Does PAT help me look for a job, find day care, or get my house cleaned?

PAT is not set up to find jobs, provide day care, or clean houses, but your Parent Educator will have lots of ideas for ways to find other helpful resources and service providers. Personal visits are designed to help you achieve your goals and meet your family's needs.

What should I expect from my visit?

Personal visits happen at a time that is good for you and your family. Your Parent Educator (PE) may schedule a time with you each week, every other week, or once a month depending on what you want and need. Each personal visit lasts about an hour and focuses on supporting you to be a great parent.

At each visit, you and your PE will talk about your pregnancy or your child's growth and learning. The PE will ask if you have any questions about being pregnant or being a parent and will give you the information and the support you need to be a great parent. Your PE will also bring an activity to help you prepare for the new baby or one for you and your child to do together.

How often do personal visits happen?

Depending on your needs, personal visits can happen typically 2 times per month. Personal visits last about an hour.

Will my Parent Educator correct my child if he/she is acting up?

No, your PE will not discipline your child. Your PE can help you learn ways for you to correct your children with confidence and success.

Can the Parent Educator help me prepare for my child's shots and doctor appointments?

Yes, you will learn how to prepare your child to go to the doctor and what to do when she gets her shots.
